Brazilian playmaker Nathan has flown into London for a medical ahead of a proposed summer move to Chelsea, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The 19-year-old is rated as Brazil’s brightest young talent and it is expected that should the medical be a success, he will move to the Blues in the summer for a fee in the region of £4.5 million.
Nathan’s club Atletico Paranaense are resigned to losing their prized possession at some point in the future, and therefore are prepared to do business with Chelsea with the hope of a good fee for the player.
More youth signings
In recent years, the Blues have built up an extensive array of young players from nations across the world and then loaning them out – the same is expected of Nathan when he arrives at Stamford Bridge.
He would currently be ineligible for a work permit in this country, and therefore would endure a few loan spells before joining up with the Chelsea squad, but it is expected he will push for a starting berth in the near future.
The attacking midfielder will join a wealth of Brazilian talent at the club, and he is already expected to make an impression sooner rather than later.
Versatility
Nathan is surprisingly versatile given his youth, as he is able to play out wide on the left-hand side or in his preferred position as the archetypal number 10, much like Oscar.
He first shot to prominence at the Under-17 World Championships in 2013, and has gone from strength to strength ever since, leading to interest from several top European sides.
