The General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyapong, has criticized national executives of wrongfully overturning his decision to issue waivers for parliamentary aspirants.
He was reacting to a decision taken at a steering committee meeting of the party to reverse his decision to allow some parliamentary aspirants to contest the parliamentary primaries even though they didn't the filing fees in full.
Greater Accra regional Chairman of the party, Mr. Ishmael Ashitey, accused Kwabena Agyapong of unfairness and that written by him granting waivers to some parliamentary aspirants were discriminatory.
Citing a disadvantaged Obom-Domeabra constituency, the chairman said, “If you want to give a waiver, I have no problem with it but two people were contesting so give the waiver to the two but you gave the waiver to one and you left the other one, it means you are not being fair.”
Speaking on Okay FM, Mr. Agyapong said certain leaders are scheming to destroy his image but warned he will expose all the rot in the party if the attacks on him do not stop.
He said since he became General Secretary some people have made it their goal to frustrate him and also disgrace the NPP.
According to him, “it is getting to a point [if they don’t take care] those in the party who are behaving the way they are behaving…we will expose it for every Ghanaian to know who they are.”
“From now on and I’m giving a strong caution…they should be careful, stop what they are doing. The attempt to damage my personality and my future,” will not succeed, Mr. Agyapong warned.
