The District Chief Executive, Mr. Emmanuel Adjei Domson, who presented the vehicle to the Scheme said 60 youth are undergoing a six-month training as Health Extension workers under the National Youth Employment Programme.
He said the trainees after the course would be posted to the various communities in the district to assist in the provision of health services to the people.
The DCE appealed to those who have not yet registered with the scheme to do so immediately to enable them to enjoy free medical care when they attend the hospitals.
Rev. Patrick Nyampong, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Scheme who received the vehicle on behalf of the Scheme thanked the council and promised to use it judiciously to ensure the success of the scheme.
Mr. Eric Owusu Appiah, District Scheme Manager said that a total of 43,445 people have so far registered out of which 38,531 have been issued with identification cards.
