The timely intervention by officers at the Defence Ministry prevented what could have become yet another serious fire incident at a public institution.
A fast-spreading fire Monday morning in the Ministry's building was quickly brought under control through vigilance of men at the ministry.
An eyewitness told Joy News, while standing at the 37 bus station, he spotted the fire spreading through an air-conditioner on the building.
“It was spreading so fast” despite the effort to put it out with an extinguisher.
He said about five more personnel of the Ministry joined in to finally control the fire.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
The $50 million building was constructed through a Chinese grant and finished in 2009.
