The Deputy Western Regional Minister, Ms Betty Bosomtwi-Sam, says government is determined to resource the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to enable it fulfill its mandate.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Fire Service Ladies Association, at Fijai during the weekend, she noted that disaster management and prevention should be the collective responsibility of society.
Ms Bosomtwi-Sam, therefore, urged the women to be committed to duty and eschew pettiness.
According to the president of the Association, Ms fanny Simpson, it was formed some 16 years ago to champion the course of women in the service and educate them in ensuring that unity is maintained to propagate the operational functions of the GNFS.
She asked the public to adhere strictly to fire prevention tips, adding that government's development agenda would not be fulfilled if the environment is not protected from the ravages of fire.
Ms Simpson pointed out that the GNFS recognizes the harmful effects of rampant fire outbreaks on the country's investment drive.Source: GNA
