The Fast Track High Court presided over by Justice Norvisi Aryene Wednesday ruled that Mr Joseph Odoom, former Principal Accountant of the Ministry of Youth and Sports wrongly sued the Head of Civil Service in the case in which he is seeking redress for alleged wrongful dismissal. The judge subsequently dismissed the case brought against the Head of Civil Service by Odoom who made allegations of impropriety against former Youth and Sports Minister, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak. The Court noted that, “Suing public officers instead of the Attorney General is in contravention of Article 88 (5) of the Constitution and would mean that public officers who have to perform their statutory function will have to spend all their time running from one Court to the other.”The Principal Accountant had sued the Attorney General, Betty Mould Iddrisu and the Head of the Civil Service in the Fast Track High Court for a declaration that the decision of the Head of the Civil Service interdicting him was unlawful. The Fast Track High Court also heard arguments on the legality of the interdiction of the Principal Account and has fixed November 23, 2009 for its final ruling in the matter.
