Universal Merchant Bank in partnership with Joy FM has set up a fund to support relief efforts for survivors of June 3 flood and fire disaster that left 152 dead.
The Ghanaian-owned bank is donating GHc50,000 seed money to challenge 25 million Ghanaians to make a difference in the lives of those whose lives have been wrecked following the disaster.
MD of the bank, John Awuah speaking on Joy FM's Super Morning Show Wednesday said the seed money will go “immediately towards medical supplies for 13 burn victims to take care of their medication needs for at least one month.”

Dozens have been left scarred for life after suffering burns after an explosion at a Goil fuel station during floods on Wednesday night of June 3.
Recalling how the news came to him, John Awuah said he was stuck in severe traffic at 37 Military Hospital in Accra.
He wondered what may have gone wrong while in traffic and tuned in to Joy FM to hear the shocking news.
“It was all over the news,” he said.
Echoing the sentiments of many Ghanaians the Chief Executive said victims of the disaster “must never be forgotten”.
He banks the humanitarian gesture of the bank will ensure that “some positive” comes out of the disaster.
Something as positive as a show of love, care and support for those affected by the floods.
