Portugal-based defender Nii Adama Plange has contacted the Ghana Football Association for a re-switch of his nationality.
The Vitoria Guimaraes player holds a Burkinabé passport after featuring thrice for their national team in friendly matches.
But the Ghana-born defender from Accra is itching to represent his motherland now.
“I got the opportunity to play friendly games with the Burkinabe senior side, because of that I am holding their passport,” Plange told Joy Sports.
“It is similar to Solomon Asante so I don’t call it a nationality switch because I haven’t written as a Ghanaian. I just had the chance to play for them that’s why it is like I am a Burkinabe.”
“Now I want to change my passport to Ghana so that it can fit me to play for the national team.”
Plange is a highly-rated right back currently playing alongside new Ghana sensation Bernard Mensah in Portugal.
It may be recalled that Solomon Asante, who has been called to the Black Stars multiple times in the last three years, was also close to playing permanently for Burkina Faso.
He, together with Plange, are both products of the defunct Gomoa Fetteh Feyenoord Academy (now WAFA) and also Burkina Premier League side ASFA Yennenga.
In fact, Asante was top scorer in that league after scoring 14 goals in 2010/11 season.
