2013 FA Cup winners, Medeama SC, have booked a date with Hearts of Oak in the semis of this year’s competition.
An inspired second half display at the home saw Medeama stage a 3-1 come-from-behind win over Academy boys WAFA SC in the MTN FA Cup quarters on Wednesday.
Free-scoring Zakaria Mumuni shot the visitors into the lead as early as the 15th minute. WAFA held their own to end the half with their one goal advantage but the second half turned out a nightmare.
Tetteh Zutah equalised for the Mauves before former Berekum Arsenal forward Kwesi Donsu grabbed a brace to send the Mauve and Yellows into the last four with a 3-1 victory.
Medeama will travel to face Hearts of Oak in the second semifinals game at the Accra Sports Stadium on July 12. The Phobians had already booked their place after a 1-0 win over Afienya City a couple of weeks ago.
The winner of this tie sets up an August 30 grand finale date with the winner of the Kotoko-Aduana encounter.
