Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah does not expect his four-month ban to hinder a summer transfer move.
The 24-year-old centre-back was handed the suspension by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) just about the time his long contested four-year move from Udinese to French side Evian TG was expiring.
Mensah has been suspended since April 30 for signing with Evian in 2011 while under contract with the Italian side and can be eligible to return to club football in October.
With his contract expiring and Evian suffering relegation, the ambitious Ghana international has hinted he could be signing for a new club.
“There might be a possibility that I might move to a different club,” he said in an interview with Metro TV.
“I want to progress in my career and we are working on something so hopefully things will go well.”
Quizzed about the possibility of the ban affecting a summer move, Mensah said; “I don’t think so because I have been to two World Cups and four African Cups so teams know what Jonathan Mensah can do.
“I don’t think this situation will hamper any move because like I said teams know what I can do,” the former AshGold trainee added.
Mensah has quite a rich international record, having won the 2009 U-20 World Cup and featured in two senior Fifa World Cups as well as the last four Afcon competitions.
