The New Patriotic Party is ready to defy a directive by the police for all parties to disband its internal security forces.

National Youth Organiser of the party John Boadu told Joy News' Francis Abban, "we will not disband anything."

The police directive follows yet another violent incidents that nearly marred the just ended by-election in Talensi.

People were injured; cars and other properties destroyed in a wave of violence in the Talensi by election which was won by the governing National Democratic Congress.

The activities of the Azorka Boys, the Bolga Bull Dogs in fomenting violence in the Talensi election were largely documented.

The police who were helpless in the Talensi skirmishes only managed to impound  weapons that were being carried to perpetrate violence in Talensi.

They however failed to arrest the persons carrying those weapons.

Prior to the by elections however, there were cases of violence perpetrated by security group within the NPP calling itself the Inviscible Group.

These security groups in both the NPP and NDC are heavily armed with sophisticated weapons contrary to the dictates of the constitution which debars individuals or groups from building security groups and forces without license.

The police issued a statement Wednesday, warning political parties to either license the security groups they have or disband them completely but the NPP is not amused with that directive.

John Boadu said the lack of evenness by the police in dealing with issues of political violence makes it imperative for the NPP to keep its security forces.

He chronicled several instances where the police and other security forces have looked on while NPP officials are attacked by hooligans he claimed to be supporting the NDC.

He cited Chereponi and Akwatia by elections where NPP officials were manhandled by youth groups of the NDC, insisting, it is in the interest of the NPP to keep its internal security forces to protect them.

But the NDC National Organiser Kofi Adams has completely denied the existence of security forces within the party.

He said the party does not have vigilante groups or recognize any security force but admitted there were youth groups across the country who were ready to support the party in all activities.

Kofi Adams stated that if the party had not restrained its supporters in the just ended Talensi by elections, the situation would have been worse.
