Tano Bofoakwa and Kumasi King Faisal are expected to punch, gnaw and sneer at each other on Sunday as they engage in a bitter, relegation-fanned game.
As the Premier League season comes to a close on Sunday, the two traditional sides are left with only mathematical chances of surviving the premiership.
And another interest; the two are playing on common grounds – the Sunyani Coronation Park where both are based.
At 31 points, even a draw will not be enough for Bofo against Faisal, who have 33 points but must also pray that Fetteh Feyenoord loses against Ashantigold.
It is indeed a dicey situation.
Both Faisal and Bofo could be easy candidates for relegation with a draw, and that is if Feyenoord wins, and in that case Power FC, who have already secured a relegation condemnation, would know (of course the rest of the world would know too), who else is bound for relegation.
Real Tamale United, also on 33 points are themselves not free from the consuming relegation fires, and should they lose on home soil in their match against Real Sportive, would require a draw in the Faisal vs Bofo encounter as well as a loss or draw by Feyenoord to survive.
But the fight for survival is not limited only to the bottom top of the league ladder, those at the top are themselves seeking fame.
Accra Hearts of Oak have no headaches though, perched comfortably on top of the 16-club league table.
Asante Kotoko are red-eyed with a search for a CAF Champions League berth, but at third position now and behind an equally ambitious Ashantigold, it looks like that dream is over.
Beyond Ashantigold’s desire for the spot, Kotoko also have a cagey assignment in Great Olympics, who they host at the Robert Mensah Stadium.
Ashantigold have perhaps an easier assignment in Feyenoord, who appear sure candidates for relegation.
It is really dicey, but something rather funny at the back of my mind tells me Bofoakwa and Feyenoord may join Power FC into the abyss.
Week 30 pairings
Hearts of Oak : Arsenals
Liberty : All Blacks
Power FC : Heart of Lions
