One of the main events that spiced up the Christmas festivities was Charter House’s ‘Ghana Rocks’ concert which brought together local music giants and Ghanaian artistes making it big outside Ghana to entertain music lovers. Big names like Sarkodie, 4x4, VIP, Okyeame Kwame, D-Black and Kwaku-T teaming up with Konvict music’s Sway, as well as Lethal Dizzle and Donae’o of 'Party Hard' fame who are all chart toppers in the UK performed to the delight of the audience at the National Theatre on December 27, 2009. Many described the show as a successful one, but there were cause of concern over the way Tema base group, R2Bees was treated on the night of the event over what is believe to be a growing scuffle between the group and the event organisers, Charter House. Mugeez, a member of R2Bees who has a song (Baby) with Sarkodie was billed to perform with him at the ‘Ghana Rocks’ concert and as Paedae told Myjoyonline.com, Mugeez had a successful mic check session with Sarkodie before the show. They were shocked when they arrived at the event venue and one Aboagye who Paedae claims works at Charter House told them he will only allow Mugeez to enter the event venue. This did not go down well with the group (Paedae, Mugeez, Kill Beatz and Under). The confrontation led to a scuffle between them and the Charter House official, he said. The scuffle compelled Sarkodie to perform his hit song "Baby" without Mugeez. The group seemed peeved over a wide range of issues concerning the entertainment industry in the country, especially the fact that a foreign company (Charter House) is organising the prestigious Ghana Music Awards instead of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA). During the 2009 Ghana Music Awards organised by Charter House, R2Bees did not win any award after receiving three nominations; Discovery of the Year, Hip life/Hip hop Artiste(s) of the Year and Afro Pop Song of the Year. The group was fumed after missing out on especially the Hip life/Hip hop Artiste(s) of the Year Award considering the kind of genre they do. Sources say R2Bees’ outcry, after the awards, did not go down well with Charter House, and has since refused to invite them to perform at any show it has organised. Ms. Juno Abena Turkson, Public Relations Manager of Charter House in an interview with Myjoyonline.com declined knowledge of the alleged scuffle between her outfit and R2Bees promising to investigate the incident. She also denied allegations that her outfit has banned the group from performing on their shows and said R2Bees is a music group and so far as they make hits they will always be happy to have them on their bill.
