The Kade District Magistrate’s court has granted GHC 600 bail to a woman who allegedly insulted another woman at an Akpeteshie bar where she had gone to buy the drink but was told there was none.
Abena Afrakoma pleaded guilty with explanation to a charge of acts tending to provoke breach of the peace when she called the woman a “prostitute”.
Police Inspector Dantes Atigsika, prosecuting, told the court that the accused and the complainant, Akosua Agyeiwaa, had not been on speaking terms for some months now.
He said on last December 17, Afrakoma went to a drinking spot to buy a drink where she met the complainant conversing with the bar keeper.
When Afrakoma was told there was no drink, she went home and returned later with her husband and again requested to buy the drink but she was once again told there was none.
The prosecutor said as they were about to leave, Afrakoma’s husband engaged the complainant in a conversation which the accused objected to.
Afrakoma questioned the husband why he should talk to a prostitute and a useless person she was not on talking terms with.
On December 18, Afrakoma again rained insults on Agyeiwaa when she met her on the street.
She also asked her daughter who was with her to insult Agyeiwaa and she obliged.
Agyeiwaa lodged a complaint with the police and Afrakoma was arrested.
