Cotton farmers in the Upper East region have appealed to the Government for a genuine strategic investor to revamp the industry.
The Secretary of the Local Union of the Ghana Cotton Company Limited (GCCL), Mr. Ignatius Seweh, made the appeal in an interview with the GNA during this year's May Day Celebration in Bolgatanga.
He stated that even though efforts for a strategic partner had not yielded any positive result, one of the ways of addressing poverty in the three northern regions was Government support to revamp the cotton industry.
Mr Seweh noted that this would promote the Presidential Initiatives (PSI) on Cotton and appealed to the people to patronise made-in-Ghana goods instead of foreign ones for the growth of Ghanaian industries.
Some of the placards of Cotton Farmers at the May Day parade read, "We Need Genuine Investors in running GCCL", "Mr President Time for PSI on Cotton Now", "Support the Cotton Industry" and "Patronise Made in Ghana Goods".
