Ghana international Prince Tagoe scored his debut goal as a Hoffenheim player on Tuesday in the German Cup.
However, Tagoe's goal was not enough to salvage his club's exit in the competition after going down 2-1 to defending champions Werder Bremen.
The striker came off the bench to draw his club level in the 73rd minute only two minutes after coming on after Bremen had taken a first half lead.
Three minutes after Tagoe's equaliser, Bremen scored the decisive goal to reach the semi-finals.
Tagoe had his contract annulled by Hoffenheim after he had been diagnosed with a heart ailment.
But a later medical examination cleared him to play and Tagoe as he was continuing with his comeback.
