The General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Ohene Ntow has described as a “national disaster”, the destruction of former President Jerry Rawlings’ Ridge residence. The entire house was decimated to ruins early Sunday morning. Nana Ohene Ntow, through Citi News expressed his party’s sympathies to the Rawlingses. He said the lack of protection for the former President’s Ridge residence against disasters of such nature exposes serious lapses in the country’s security system as far as protection for important personalities is concerned.Nana Ohene Ntow says his party is deeply shocked and saddened by the disaster. According to him a message of condolence has been forwarded to the former first family which will be followed by a delegation.“…I linked up with one of the officials in President Rawling’s house. I couldn’t speak to him personally but I’ve already sent a message of sympathy and condolence from the New Patriotic Party. We will subsequently be issuing an official statement to that effect. This is really bad news for this country and I really do pray that such an incident does not happen again that the state takes adequate measures to protect the lives of such important personalities as the former president.” He said.Source: Citifmonline
