The Founder and Leader of the Miracle Testimony Church, Senior Prophet Kwaku Boakye, 35, has been remanded in police custody by the Oda District Magistrate Court for allegedly rapping an 18-year-old girl. The court, presided over by Mr Albert Annor-Owusu, convicted the accused to stand trial at the Akyem Swedru Circuit Court Tuesday because the case was beyond its jurisdiction. When Prophet Boakye appeared before the circuit court Tuesday, he pleaded not guilty and the court, presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowia, remanded him in prison custody until March 10, 2010. Prosecuting, Detective Inspector Kwaku Appiah of the Oda Divisional Police Command ,said for some time now Prophet Boakye had been in Oda trying to establish a branch of his church in the town. He said on the prophet's arrival in the town, word went round the Birim Central municipality that he was spiritually powerful and so many people, especially women, kept visiting him at the hotel where he was putting up for spiritual assistance and counselling. According to the prosecutor, in the afternoon of February 9, 2010, the victim visited the accused for spiritual help and Prophet Boakye, who had three different kinds of anointing oil which were white, red and green, poured some of the red oil on the victim's head, smeared her face and hands with some of it and began praying for her. The prosecution said in the course of the prayer, the young lady got dazed and Prophet Boakye took advantage of the situation to rape her. When the victim regained consciousness, she realised that the prophet had raped her, soiling her clothes with blood as a result. The traumatised victim then lodged a complaint with the Oda Divisional Police which gave her a medical form to seek treatment at the Oda Government Hospital. The medical report indicated that the lady had been raped so the police arrested Prophet Boakye to assist them in their investigations. When he was put before court, he pleaded not guilty, saying he had been framed up by the lady. Source: Daily Graphic
