There seems to be no end in sight to the protracted chieftaincy dispute in Nungua, a suburb of Accra, despite several court rulings to resolve the matter.
The Supreme Court in the latest ruling on Wednesday failed to set aside an executive instrument barring Nii Odai Ayiku IV from holding himself out as the chief.
Both the High and Appeal Courts have previously ruled that they lack the authority to set aside the executive instrument issued by the PNDC in 1983.
A claimant to the stool, Wornii Borkete-labi Borkete-Lawe, tells Joy News the ruling confirms him as the legitimate chief of Nungua.
But lawyer for the embattled chief disagrees.
Thaddeus Sorry said the ruling does not stop Nii Odai Ayiku from performing his customary functions as a chief of Nungua.
