The released Nana Darkwa, who was placed in custody by a circuit court after accusing ex-President Rawlings of burning his own house, sent hundreds of NPP followers jubilating Friday.
Nana Darkwa was released shortly before midday after a High Court granted him bail, and he made a first public appearance at the New Patriotic Party headquarters at Asylum Down where several party officials and followers gathered to welcome him, pouring powder on him to celebrate his return.
He has also been to the studios of Joy FM, accompanied by NPP General Secretary, Nana Ohene Ntow, to tell his 'own story' about what led to his arrest and what has happened to him since.
Nana Darkwa said instead of the Nsawam Prison where he was ordered to be detained, he was rather kept at the Ministries Police Station in Accra.
Speaking to Joy FM’s Matilda Asante, he claimed that what happened to him has rather boosted his morale and that he has no regrets for what he did, saying “I knew I had a backbone [supporters] who were fully supporting me...”
Ahead of his release, secured at a bail of GHS400 with one surety to be justified, the Minority in Parliament Friday boycotted proceedings to demand his immediate release and said they would sustain the boycott until he was released.
Nana Darkwa said if he gets the chance to express his views about anything or anybody, he would do so fearlessly.
