Prudential Life Insurance Ghana has demonstrated its commitment to Ghana by presenting valuable awards to the top five students in actuarial science at the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
The awards are part of a major initiative by the life insurer, which is part of the global financial services group Prudential Plc, to support high-achieving actuarial science students in Ghana.
Prudential also gave similar awards to five students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in July.
Prudential awarded each of the five outstanding UCC students the cedi equivalent of 500USD, reimbursed their exams fees and provided study notes at an awards ceremony on 26 September 2015.
The UCC award-winners were Eric Nana Arthur, Emmanuel Kofi Abrefa, Francis Opoku, Albert Acquaah Biney and Stephanie Dorothy Normanyo.
Christian Cofie, Head of Actuarial at Prudential Life Insurance Ghana, said: “We would like to congratulate these outstanding students on their richly deserved awards, and we wish them all the very best in building successful careers in insurance. Mr. Henry Amankwah, the Head of Department of Mathematics and Statistics at UCC said: “We are delighted that Prudential has committed to supporting the development of actuarial science in Ghana. These awards provide our students with vital support that will enable them to move onto the next stage of their careers, helping them to become outstanding actuaries.
