Staff of Stanbic Bank Ghana drawn from various branches have visited the Mother Teresa School in Senya Beraku, about an hour drive from Accra, as a community gesture to show love and care to the needy.
The staff embarked on the volunteering project as part of activities marking the 10th Anniversary of Stanbic Bank Ghana and also as a way of demonstrating love to the less privileged on St. Valentine’s Day.
The staff on arrival at the school weeded, painted, swept and helped to construct a wall around the Mother Theresa School for Girls in Senya Beraku and later donated food items, office equipment and building materials worth GH¢3000 to the school.
These activities marked the annual Day of Caring event organized by United Way Ghana to mark St. Valentine’s Day. Staff from companies in Ghana take time off their normal work schedule on Valentines Day to make the day more purposeful by caring and sharing love with needy communities.
Making the donation on behalf of the group, Mr. Bennet Frimpong, a public relations officer at the bank said “The bank is fully committed to the larger society that supports our work and we believe that it is critical to pay back our dues to the society. And what better way to do that by spending time with these young ones during the season of love”.
Welcoming the group, the headmistress of the school Madam Nefissa Haruna said the school was grateful to Stanbic for their kind gesture. “We really feel special today, because its not all the time that we have groups visiting and spending time with us like this. You’ve put a smile on our faces and the children will always remember that.”
This is the third consecutive time since 2007 that Stanbic bank has participated in the day of caring event.
