President John Mahama has begun intensive campaign to get members of the National Democratic Congress to endorse him as their presidential candidate for the 2016 elections.
The President is confident party members will massively endorse him in the November 7 presidential primary of the governing National Democratic Congress.
His optimistic remarks follow concerns raised by the party leaders that members of the opposition New Patriotic Party have infiltrated the governing party in a bid to create disaffection for him.
To scare and ward off the unknown infiltrators, the Eastern Region chairman of the NDC Bismark Tawiah Boateng is threatening to arrest persons he suspects will vote against President John Mahama's candidature on November 7.
With John Mahama as the sole candidate for the presidential slot, party members are expected to endorse his candidature.
He is however not leaving anything to chance as he begs voters to support his bid.
“It is necessary for me to go round and seek the mandate of my people, and so we brought all our party people across the constituency in the region and I had a reunion with them and I formally informed that I have submitted my forms to represent them as the flag-bearer and ask them for their support,” President Mahama said on Twin City Radio in Takoradi Monday.
The president said he has worked hard to poll more votes from the party’s supporters.
“We are looking for the maximum endorsement, maximum,” he prayed.
