Dream Africa Ghana Limited, event organizers and publishers at the weekend launched "Ghana for Gold South Africa 2010 and Soccer in Ghana" in Kumasi.
It was organized in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism.
Mr Kwabena Adjei, Chief Executive Officer of the Company who launched the event, said it was aimed at supporting the tourism industry through the game of soccer.
He said football has become universally popular and the performance of Ghana's teams are commendable and needs to be commended.
"So what we want to do as a company is to use our excellence in football to promote the tourism industry", Mr Adjei said.
Mr Adjei said as part of the 'Ghana for Gold 2010' programme the company would soon embark on a campaign with most vehicles to be encouraged to fly Ghana for Gold flags and display of bumper stickers.
The event, he said would soon be unveiled in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, which has been chosen as the headquarters of Ghana for Gold activities.
Mr Adjei said after the launch they would tour all the 10 regions of Ghana for people who would patronize the flag flying event to get the opportunity to enter a raffle draw for the winners to get the opportunity to go to South Africa to watch the semi-final and the final matches of the FIFA World Cup competition.
The CEO said the package is being sponsored jointly with Dodi Travels and Tours.
He said the company's second package would be the unveiling of "Soccer in Ghana Magazine" with a Ghana investors and tourist directory included.
Mrs Stella Appenteng, President, Ghana Tourism Federation in her interaction with the media recognized the importance of tourism in nation building and urged the Government to continue to support the industry.
She said the promotion of tourism through sports is a good venture which should be embraced by all Ghanaians.
