Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Omanhene of Essikadu Traditional Area, has called on Ghanaians to focus on national development instead of over indulging in politics.
He said that there was too much politics in the country and everything was associated with politics.
Nana Nketia was speaking at the opening of an exhibition on Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana's first President, as part of Nkrumah's centenary celebrations, in Sekondi.
He said that the country's Gross Domestic Product was obtained almost entirely from the extractive industry and this was impoverishing the people.
Nana Nketia said that "The only thing we manufacture in abundance is political talk. We have ceased to be a thinking nation and it is about time we re-envision ourselves to move the nation forward".
He said Dr. Nkrumah was as a personality, who transcended politics, saying "Nkrumah was about culture, our way of life, our independence, our future as well as self esteem".
Ms. Betty Bosomtwi-Sam, Deputy Western Regional Minister, said Nkrumah's vision was still relevant for Ghana and Africa.
He called on Ghanaians to be patriotic, honest and hard working towards national development.Source: GNA
