President John Evans Atta Mills has received the Sister Cities Global Grand Honor of Distinguished Leadership award, at the Castle Osu.
The Award which was presented to the President by Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sister Cities International, Mr Michael Hyatt, was bestowed on the President for the distinguished leadership he provides as President of the Republic of Ghana during a courtesy call on him by the leadership of Sister Cities Proramme Wednesday.
The citation accompanying the award said President Mills has created a strong, democratic country with emphasis on peaceful and stable political environment. It is this stability that has allowed Ghana to be recognized internationally as a nation with encouraging economic growth indicators to meet the UN Millennium Development goals.
President Mills thanked them for the honour done him and stated that the Sister Cities programme is an efficient means to improve upon the lot of Ghanaians.
On their part, Michael Hyatt and Prince Kwame Kludjeson of Africa Global Sister Cities Foundation noted that so far 600 cities in US, 130 in Africa and 4 in Ghana, have been connected as Sister Cities.
The group which met the President included dignitaries such as President of the National House of Chiefs, Prof. S.K Naabilla, Asokore-Omanhene, Dr. Nana S.K.B. Asante and other distinguished personalities.
