A 30-year-old convict, Iddrisu Danlarhdi, who is serving a three-year term in hard labour for defrauding by false pretences at the Koforidua prisons, has escaped from the Eastern Regional hospital in Koforidua. Iddrisu Danlarhdi was said to have swallowed blades and key holder chains on the day of his conviction on April 28 and was rushed to the hospital for medical attention. According to the Public Affairs Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, Chief Inspector Nketiah Yeboah, the convict was rushed to the theatre for surgery upon arrival and while recuperating, he managed to escape. Prison authorities are therefore appealing to the general public to help apprehend the convict who is suspected to be hiding in Accra New Town, Nima Alaska or Akyem-Topreman, his place of birth. The escaped convict is said to have scars on the chest and stomach as a result of the surgical operation performed on him. Source: GNA
