The Ga Mantse’s (Chief) Palace is under a heavy security surveillance following an early morning invasion by some angry youth.
It is unclear why the youth invaded the palace but a spokesperson for the Ga Mantse, Nii Boye Abbey has described the attack as a foiled coup.
Police say the situation is under control. DSP Theodore Hlonu of the Greater Accra Police command tells Joy News some of the youth have been picked up for questioning.
According to him a busload of people suspected to have links with a claimant to the Ga stool, arrived at the palace but were arrested and escorted to the Police Headquarters for further investigations.
No harmful weapon was found in their possession, he confirmed.
Nii Boye Abbey in an interview with Joy News' Stephen Anti said the attempt to destool the Ga Mantse is "laughable."
He accused one Ayitey Canada, a claimant to the Ga Stool of masterminding the ‘coup’ having already attempted to install himself as the Ga Mantse with the express approval of national security.
Nii Boy Abbey said the Ga Mantse was not in the palace when the incident occurred and assured that Nii Tackie Tawiah II is not perturbed by the 'coup' attempts.
He advised all interested in becoming the Ga Mantse to proceed to court for their grievances to be addressed.
