The Akim Swedru Circuit Court, in the Birim South District of the Eastern Region, has remanded Kwame Amaning, a driver's mate, into prison custody for allegedly beating his fiancé for not cooking for him.
Amaning 22, who pleaded not guilty for causing harm, would reappear on June 7.
The Prosecutor, Police Inspector Kwaku Appiah, told the Court, presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah that Ms Grace Dankwa, the complainant, on May 28, refused to prepare food for her boyfriend due to a misunderstanding that compelled Amaning to throw out her personal belongings from his house and beat her up in addition.
On May 29, the accused beat up the complainant again for joining his friend to a wake-keeping at Akim Asuboa near Akim Manso and locked her up in his room.
Ms Dankwa, who was rescued by the brother of the accused, reported the incident to the police leading to the arrest of Amaning.
