The Ashanti Regional Police Command has discounted reports of a planned counter demonstration to tomorrow’s scheduled demonstration by the Alliance for Accountable Governance in Kumasi. AFAG alleges a group of NDC activists intends to disrupt its demonstration to protest recent increases in utility tariffs. Secretary of the group, Arnold Boateng has told Luv News he heard an NDC sympathizer, Brogya Gyamfi make a statement on radio to that effect. However, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Patrick Timbillah says the command has not received any notification of a counter demonstration. He said police have already agreed on routes for AFAG’s demonstration and that any reports of a counter action should be brought to the attention of the command. Meanwhile, the man at the centre of the allegation, Brogya Gyamfi has explained that he only talked about a march on a later date in support of the government for making money available to cushion lifeline consumers following the tariff hikes.
