Kwasi Ayensu, a farmer who forcibly had sex with a 14-year-old house help, has been handed over a 10- year prison term by the Akim Swedru Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah.
Ayensu, 27, also called Shankee, pleaded guilty to defilement.
Police Chief Inspector Adelaide Appiakorang said the complainant, who is the father of the victim, and the convict lived in the same vicinity at Akim Akroso in the Eastern Region.
She said at about 2100 hours on May 31, the victim's mother sent her on errands and she met Ayensu, who invited her to his house, but she turned down the request.
Chief Inspector Appiakorang said the accused dragged the victim into his bedroom, sealed her mouth with his hand and forcibly had sex with her.
In the process, the girl started screaming for help and this attracted a witness to the scene; however the accused managed to abscond.
The Chief Inspector added that Ayensu ambushed the victim the following day and again managed to have sex with her.
She narrated her ordeal to her father, who made a report to the Akroso Police leading to the arrest and the prosecution of the convict.
