Ghana striker Mathew Amoah saved his Dutch side NAC Breda with a late goal to earn a point against AZ Alkmaar in their Eredivisie opener at home.
Amoah, who struggled to a starting place in Ghana’s squad at the World Cup finals, has begun where he left off last season for his club.
AZ took the lead through Erik Falkenburg after 58 minutes but failed to close out the match as Amoah popped up with the leveller 11 minutes from time.
Donny Gorter’s cross being helped on by Anthony Lurling and Amoah had the time and space to pick his spot from close range.
Amoah was the club’s top scorer last season with 9 goals.
He has been excluded from Milovan Rajavac’s 18-man squad for Wednesday friendly international against South Africa.
