Some family members of Gari-shenaa Yakubu, the murdered chief of Garishegu in the Northern region, were Monday attacked on their way to Tamale.
They suspect the unidentified assailants, numbering about thirty, were youth from a rival faction in the chieftaincy dispute.
There has been tension in Garishegu after the Chief of Shigu, Naa Yakubu Andani, was killed earlier this year.
In the latest attack, one person is reported to have been severely injured. One of the victims Yakubu Alhassan narrated his ordeal to Joy News.
“We were in our car so when we went there we met one of our brothers on a motor bike in Nyankpala. We decided to slow down to find out if he had a problem with his motor bike. He said no.
“…We saw about 30 or more people coming out from Garishegu direction. Before we realised they blocked the road. They held his motorbike with cutlass they butchered on of his hand and seized the motorbike,” he said.
