The management of Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) on Friday said the interruption of electricity supply to parts of the Accra Metropolis on the night of Thursday, August 26, between 20:20 hours and 22:00 hours, was as a result of a fire outbreak on the capacitor banks at the Achimota Substation and the subsequent automatic tripping of a transformer.
A statement issued in Accra and signed by Albert Kwesi Quainoo,Head of Public Relations, said this resulted in the interruption of electricity supply to ECG customers in some parts of Accra.
“GRIDCo engineers and technicians were at the Achimota Station immediately to work and restore power to the ECG, and management sincerely appreciates the cooperation of consumers and apologises for the inconvenience”, the release said.
