The Asawasi Constituency of the NDC says it will resist attempts by any group to bus people in and out of the area during the limited voter registration exercise.
The nationwide exercise which begins today in about 3,500 centers gives first time voters’ opportunity to get their names on the electoral roll.
But Member of Parliament Asawsai, Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed, says the party has picked information about a ploy by unidentified people to carry potential voters from surrounding constituencies around.
The motive of the architects of the ploy according to Alhaji Muntaka is to neutralize the number votes registered in the Asawasi Constituency which is one of the safe seats of the ruling National Democratic Congress in the electoral World Bank of the New Patriotic Party.
At the inauguration of a library complex at Aboabo, he called on NDC supporters to be vigilant to ensure only qualified people from the constituency register.
Alhaji Muntaka also warns the NDC will resist and challenge the registration of anyone bused to the area, saying the lives of those bused to the area to take part in the exercise cannot be guaranteed.
“It is something that we will resist. We are going to be very vigilant because we are never going to allow anybody for whatever reason to think that you can just bus people into our place”. Alhaji Muntaka warned.
He suspects his opponents from two bigger opposition political parties are behind the ploy to bus people into the constituency.
“If you ask me who my greatest suspects are, I will say my biggest opponents are the two main political parties. Let’s take this opportunity to also say the same to even people who belong to my party who may also think they may want to bus people and we will do everything possible under this sun to resist such an attempt”, Alhaji Muntaka said.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Mubarak tells Nhyira FM police have been informed about the alleged busing plot.
