Ghana Decides - A Blogging Ghana Election Project today launched its #iRegistered campaign. #iRegistered is an online and offline campaign to get eligible Ghanaians to register in the upcoming limited biometric voters’ registration exercise which begins on April 28 and ends on May 8 2016.
Ghana Decides, a Blogging Ghana (BloGh) project supported by STAR Ghana, seeks to promotes youth and marginalized voices towards a peaceful, credible,issues-based and inclusive elections. It will achieve this through both online and offline community engagements, and information dissemination.
The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana estimates 1.2 million Ghanaians will register in the limited voter registration exercise. Since voters’ registration is not yet a continuous exercise in Ghana, the #iRegistered Campaign aims at getting eligible Ghanaians, including first-time voters, to (enthusiastically) go out, brace the long queues and possibly the harsh weather to get their names in the Voters’ Register.
Eligible Ghanaians can participate in the campaign in 4 simple steps:
Be Informed – Follow #GhanaDecides on social media and visit ghanadecides.com & ec.gov.gh for information on how to register.
Register (April 28 – May 8, 2016) in the Limited Voter Registration Exercise.
Post a Photo or Video/Share Your Experience & Encourage Other New Voters to Register Using the Hashtags #iRegistered & #GhanaDecides. BloggingGhana is curating an album on Flickr of over 1,000 pictures from across the country on the limited biometric registration exercise. Pictures and videos sent to pictures@ghanadecides.com or Whatsapp to 0555400558 to be added to the album.
Join the conversation on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram using #iRegistered & #GhanaDecides.
Project Lead, Kinna Likimani said the “campaign focuses on getting the youth, women, persons with disabilities and other marginalized groups to register.” She also urged Ghanaians to assist the physically challenged to get to the registrations centres and encourage women to register and share their experiences.
Blogging Ghana is a network of bloggers in and outside Ghana who blog/use online social media tools to report regularly about Ghana.
Founded in 2008, it serves as a forum for people to network and exchange ideas, as well as build capacity among citizens through education and organisation of pro blog and social media events. Ghana Decides is an election monitoring project of Blogging Ghana.
The project is funded by STAR-Ghana’s Election 2016 Call, which aims to ensure peaceful, transparent, fair elections and increased political participation.
