President John Dramani Mahama has observed that Brong-Ahafo Region has benefited immensely from the national cake under his administration.
He said more than 1,000 under-served communities in the Region had been connected to the national electricity grid and 300,000 people had also been supplied with potable drinking water under the Small Town Water system.
President Mahama made the assertion when he addressed a durbar of chiefs and people of Dadiesoaba in the Asutifi South District of Brong-Ahafo on Tuesday, as part of his three-day “accounting to the people” tour of the Region.
He said construction works on many cocoa roads linking farm gates were steadily progressing while several others were yet to be awarded on contract.
President Mahama indicated that Ghana was a lower-middle income country, and his government was therefore struggling to ensure that all the development needs of the citizenry were provided.
He emphasized that his government required the support of all Ghanaians for national reconstruction and asked the electorate to renew the mandate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the November 7 polls.
The Paramount Chief of Acherensua, Agyewodin Professor Adu Gyamfi Ampem, expressed appreciation to the government for the level of development in the area.
He pleaded with the President to ensure that various roads awarded on contract in the area were completed within schedule.
President Mahama, earlier held a brief interaction with students at the Dadeasoaba Community Health Nursing Training School and gave the assurance that the government was working to restore the trainee nurses' allowance.
He promised the students of a school bus to facilitate their clinical and field studies.
