Martha Yakubu, a 76-year-old woman at Tema Community 2, who douched an eight-year-old girl, Sadia Mohammed, with acid has been bonded to be of good behavior for twelve months.
The Prosecutor of the case told the court that, on the 30th of March, 2010, the victim went out to play with her peers in the neighbourhood.
Upon returning at around 6:30pm, the victim complained of stomach ache and her auntie, Martha Yakubu, who always douched her whenever she complained, mixed a local concoction called “okumadada” with acid and douched her.
The Prosecutor said after the douching, the victim collapsed and was rushed to the Narbita Hospital at Tema.
She was later transferred to the Korle-Bu teaching Hospital and was arrested and charged.
