The Northern Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chief Sofo Awudu Azourka has stressed the need for a cordial relationship between political parties and the media, especially in this election year to avoid violence.
He said when these two key stakeholders moderates their respective roles effectively devoid of sectorial interest the nation will come out of election 2016 peacefully.
Chief Azourka's call come in the wake of demands by the National Peace Council for political parties and their actors to avoid utterances that can inflame passions.
He made the call at a meeting organized by the women’s wing of the party in Northern Region to strategize for election 2016. Thirty-one constituency women organizers and women’s wing of the NDC in the Region were in attendance.

Speaking to Joy News, Chief Azourka noted that trust and good relationship between them could not be under-estimated since media practitioners and politicians had crucial roles to play.
He added that people who have never witnessed violence who will be pushing for violence should desist from it and also caution NDC commentators to guide against divisive comments since President Mahama stands for peace.
Northern Regional minister, Abubakar Abdallah alleged that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is scheming a ploy to sow a seed of discord within the NDC by inciting their party functionaries mainly women against the leadership of the party.
National Women’s Organizer of the NDC, Hajia Zenabu called for the education of more women in the Region to join the campaign of the NDC in the Northern Region for victory for President John Dramani Mahama.
