A police reinforcement team has been deployed to Sege in the Dangme East district of the Greater Accra Region.
This follows a dispute over a decision by the Electoral Commission to return to Sege Presby Primary polling centre to undertake the voters registration exercise.
Some residents are preventing the exercise as they think this might be a machinery to re-register people who have already been registered.
According to reports, the electoral Commission returned to the registration centre because there were many people to be registered there. The EC explained that a registration centre it moved its equipment to after the first phase was sparsely populated.
According to the Member of Parliament for Sege, Christian Otuteye, for over three hours, the EC has not been able to begin the registration.
He blamed the EC for moving the centre to a less populated area after the first five days of the exercise.
Reports indicate that decision was taken after a meeting with political party representatives at the district after it was established that majority of the people in the area could not register during the first phase of the registration.
But the New Patriotic Party agents opposed the decision and insisted that the EC remained at the new centre.
This has resulted in disagreement between the EC officials and some residents of the constituency.
The MP has called for dialogue to resolve the impasse.
The ten-day exercise, however, ends on Sunday, May 8, 2016.
