Many eligible voters have expressed disappointment for being left out of the country's electoral register on the last day of the limited registration exercise, Sunday, May 8.
Some registrants who spoke to Joy News said they had been in long queues throughout Sunday blamed the slow pace of the exercise for their inability to register.
The 11-day Limited Biometric Voter Registration exercise which began on April 28, 2016, ended on Sunday.
Hundreds thronged various registration centres with the hope of getting their names on the voters' register.
But many were disappointed after they joined the long queues from morning until about 6 p.m. when the exercise ended and could not register.
Most of them hoped that they could be considered but the Biometric Verification Machines which were programmed to shut down after six, stopped further registration.
Most of those greatly affected were students at the tertiary institutions who could not get guarantors or were just unable to register because of delays in the process.
Joy News' Ekow Sam who visited the Legon Hall on the University of Ghana campus registration centre reported that students had still gathered there and looked unhappy.
"I am very disappointed. I have the right to vote and I had an examination to write and it wasn't my turn yet so I left to write only to get back and find out that the exercise has ended," a student said.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko said "the exercise was not well-thought through, that was not properly executed and therefore the desired result is not what we are getting."
The Greater Accra Region Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), Kwame Amoah, said there was very little registration officials could do about the increased pressure on the last day of registration.
"What we have to do is to take note of these centres and report to management and that will inform the decision they make," he added.
