Put the Nation first, stop the blame game and stand-up against violence. This admonition is coming from Chairman of the National Peace Council, to the leadership of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the opposition New Patriotic Party.
According to Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante, it’s high time these political leaders showed they have the interest of the nation at heart by coming out openly to condemn their supporters who caused trouble in the just ended limited registration exercise.
He made these remarks on the AM Show on the JOYNEWS channel on Multi TV, Wednesday.
"We have plans in the Regions to meet with the political party leadership and this should culminate in an event similar to what happened in 2012," Rev. Asante said.
He added that they are in touch with the Kofi Annan Foundation looking forward to organizing a major event in Accra in September involving all the political parties.
He said the Rotary Club which is also committed to peace is willing to work with the National Peace Council to promote the peace and violence free agenda prior to the November polls.
"A number of events have been lined up to address these issues that would involve our political leaders," Rev Asante disclosed.
