A 45-year-old Headmaster of Modern Business College (MOBUSCO) at Suhum in the Eastern Region has been remanded in custody by a Magistrates’ Court, presided over by Mr. E. M. Essandoh for insulting Environmental Officers and also refusing arrest by the police.
The accused, Bright Mumuni was charged with indiscriminate disposal of offensive waste water and refusing arrest.
He has pleaded not guilty.
According to the prosecution, Mr Philip Tawiah, Senior Environmental Officer and Mr. Johnny Apudego, Mr Philip Zutugu and Mr Ofosu Asante, Health Inspectors on their normal rounds went to MOBUSCO and detected that offensive waste water had been deposited behind the school which served as breading grounds for mosquito.
He said, the team invited the accused for advice but he refused to respond and was therefore summoned to appear on May 10. He also refused to attend the court and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
Again, he resisted arrest and later a Crime Officer was also detailed to arrest him but he
again resisted arrest.
He said the accused was arrested by the District Commander of Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police, E. K. Nyarko and five other policemen.Source: GNA
