The almost flawless qualification to Gabon 2017 by the Black Stars has been largely overlooked by Ghanaian who still seem to bear a grudge with the team since the fiasco in Brazil.
Deputy captain Andre Ayew has come out to plead with Ghanaians to show support to the team ahead of some crunch fixtures which includes World Cup Qualifiers and the quest to win a first AFCON for over two decades.
But SWAG President Kwabena Yeboah believes the first step for the players is to convince the populace there are not in for the money
“The Black Stars will do well to accept whatever the state offers them,” he told Joy Sports
“For example, if they are earning $10,000 for instance and the state feels we are cash strapped and we have a perilous financial situation for which reason we believe that our national purse can offer $5000.”
“The players should not be fretting over that, they should not be fighting over that.”
“Within the context of the national purse, whatever we offer them they should accept that in good faith and serve this nation because the players are quick to let the whole nation know they do not play because of money and I want to believe that.”
