For Angelina Jolie's latest role, she's getting into comic books - literally.
Independent comics company Bluewater Productions has made Jolie the central character of its latest biography comic to be released this January titled, “Female Force: Angelina Jolie.”
Jolie joins Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, Sarah Palin and Oprah Winfrey as female celebrities who have been the subject of “Female Force” comics.
“We’re focusing our biography titles on the most intriguing celebrities, world leaders and artists,” said Bluewater president and founder Darren G. Davis. “This is by design. We want to bring new fans to comics. One way to do this is to publish biographies on celebrities that already have strong and dedicated fan bases.”
The 32-page comic is written by Brent Sprecher, with pencils by Nuno Nobre, and will be available in comic shops and from online retailers for a retail cost of $3.99.
Sprecher said he “learned a great deal about her struggles and triumphs as an award-winning actress, mother and humanitarian” while doing research for the comic, and he thinks the audience will come away inspired.
“My hope is that this biography, in some small way, inspires others to follow Angelina Jolie’s example and make helping those in need a part of their daily lives,” Sprecher said.
