MTN Ghana Foundation has sponsored twenty (20) Basic schools to participate in the annual National Spelling Bee Competition. The National Spelling Bee competition organized by Essence Communications is aimed at enhancing the reading skills, enriching vocabulary and pronunciation among pupils as well as providing them with fun and entertainment. The competitors are within the ages of eight and thirteen. MTN is supporting the competition with GH¢14,000 to cover the participation of the 20 schools in the Volta Region. The donation by MTN Foundation is for the mobilization of instructors to train the students, purchase teaching and learning materials for the competition and also acquire prizes for the winners at the regional level. Speaking on behalf of the MTN Ghana Foundation during the presentation at Ho, Nana Adjei Perbi, the Education Portfolio Advisor for MTN Ghana Foundation reemphasized the organization’s commitment to the development of education and its continuous support for projects and events aimed at improving teaching and learning.
