The Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia North says the Nationa Democratic Congress’ (NDC)'s one million vote target in Ashanti Region is a mirage but the NPP can only prove that by rallying its entire support base on election day.
Collins Owusu Amankwah says though Ashanti Region is the stronghold of the NPP, percentage of votes has been dropping in successive elections.
Speaking to supporters at Krofofrom after a keep fit walk the Manhyia North MP noted, many have embraced the message of the party but the NPP need to ensure apathy does not set in on voting day.
He is asking the electorate to prove the NDC’s one million vote target a sham by registering their full presence on election day to show the NPP’s full force in the region.
The NDC is working hard towards hitting this target in the NPP stronghold.
A former Ashanti Regional Minister, Peter Anarfi-Mensah recently said he is optimistic the party can meet its votes target in the Region.
“The one million vote target is on course…there is even a possibility of exceeding what we have set for ourselves because, the John Mahama administration has done enough to transform lives of residents in the region”, he said.
President John Mahama believes the NDC can secure the targetted votes in the Region considering the infrastructural projects the governing party has undertaken during its time.

After his exit, resigned Mayor of Kumasi teamed up with embattled former Municipal Chief Executive for Ejisu in working to help garner one million votes for President Mahama in Ashanti Region.
But Mr Amankwah said looking at the voting pattern, the NPP has the numbers and only has to encourage all registered voters to come out in their numbers to kill NDC's dream.
"We are focused as a party, more organised, resolute and getting our messages across," he said adding the NDC has nothing on them when it comes to winning most votes in the Region.
