A 63 year-old man is reported to have committed suicide Thursday morning at Ashaiman near Tema.
The man, John Kwabena Abbam is alleged to have hanged himself on a tree situated on the compound of his home.
Speaking to Joy News, Assistant Police Public Relations Officer for the Tema Police, Corporal Joseph Barabu said information they had gathered so far pointed to no immediate reason as to why the deceased took his own life.
“So far the information gathered indicates that he has no problem… and as to what led him to commit the suicide by hanging, it is not yet known to them [the deceased’s family],” he said.
He however said that a family source revealed that the deceased attempted committing suicide five years ago but a timely intervention prevented him from doing so.
The body has since been deposited at the police morgue pending further investigations.
