Labour Consultant Mr. Austin Gamey has endorsed the call from President Mills for an institution of a law that will require officials at CEPS to declare their assets when being employed.
The move, he says, will help employing authorities to know the type of people they are dealing with in the institutions.
Mr. Austin Gammey said all employees are duty bound to obey lawful instructions regarding the organization or the institution they work in whether private or public and any job they are assigned to execute.
Mr Gammey was speaking on Ekosii Sen on Asempa FM.
He explained that if the state gives people room to perform their duties and execute their assignments and they misbehave, the state must take all reasonable steps to ensure that they protect the larger public interest.
President Mills Friday paid a surprise visit to the Tema Harbour where he expressed deep anger at the endemic corruption at the port and called for the institutionalization of an asset declaration regime at CEPS.
President Mills also noted that corruption at the port risks hurting foreign investment prospects for Ghana.
In a related development, the Director of Communication at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho has expressed the belief that those caught on tape in the Anas documentary will be brought to book as promised by the CEPS boss Major General Carl Mordey.
The CEPS boss intimated during the president’s visit that the penalty for guilty officers will be summary dismissal.
Mr Anyidoho noted that in this action year the president is not hesitant to deal with anyone caught in the firing line.
