The board of directors of the St Augustine’s College in the Central region has demanded the reinstatement of the school’s headmaster.
The board says there were flaws in the procedure through which the headmaster was interdicted.
Joseph Connel was interdicted last week for charging unapproved fees of GHC430.00 from newly admitted students.
A Deputy Minister for Education, Alex Kyeremeh said the ministry took the action after investigating and confirming reports on social media that the headmaster was charging the unapproved fees.
According to him, the Ministry upon hearing and reading the news asked the regional director to go to the school and investigate the reports.
He said the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) after further investigations handed the headmaster an interdiction letter and asked another person to take charge of the school, Mr Kyeremeh confirmed.
But the school's Board of Directors after a meeting on Monday demanded a reversal of the decision they term unlawful.
Joy News' Richard Kwadwo Nyarko reported on Wednesday that lawyers for the school are meeting to decide the next line action if the headmaster is not reinstated.
